T1-V9 (unlisted in Scott), used.

"Rialtas" 5-line overprint in black (Dollard): 1/2d overprint variety ("Scaladac" for "Sealadac").

T1-V9
1/2d green
"Scaladac" for "Sealadac"
[MID]  [LAR]

Notes: The "Scaladac" for "Sealadac" overprint variety may be found on both the Dollard low value overprints and on later issues as well. Because of its prevalence, it was not regarded by Meredith as a significant variety. Like numerous other varieties, it is attributable to broken type on the plate - in this case, a missing horizontal in the "e" of "Sealadac" (somewhat obscured by the postmark). This particular stamp also shows a broken tail to the Gaelic "r" in "héireann".

Provenance: Dr. Charles Wolf

Bibliography: Meredith 1927, 58; Feldman 1968, 59; MacDonnell Whyte, 1991, 14.
