Dear Huldah

     another Sabbath morning findes me at Camp Dennison . but I am thankful and proud to inform you that I am well. I feel better in the last two or three days than I have Since I took Sick I hope this will finde you and your little faimly in good health ) I received yours of the 22 & 23 ) I am glad to here that .N.T.Chambers [i.e., Corporal Nathan T. Chambers] has got home I have not hered any thing from the Regt for a long time Isaac [i.e., Corporal Isaac Demoss] has

not ritten to me for some time or at least I have got no letters from him for Some time well Dearest Some time ago when you asked me the question conserning me getting out I told you that I thought that I could tell you by the last of this month well love from what I can learn wee will get out Some time this week yet I may be mistaken for thare is no certainty in military affairs So I may be deceived this time you Spoke of me coming to help you eat fried chicken. be patient I think I will get to eate some of your chickens

onions peas and Such as you are raising in the garden but dont build your Self up with to Strong expectations of me coming home So Soon for feare that you will be deceived, as it is raining and I am Sleepy I will Stop writing and take a Snoos as that is all the fesion here of rainy days So good bye for the presant this the 29 Good eavening loved ones I received a letter from Isaac this moring they are Camped neare Golesburough [sp. Goldsborough] .N.C. Isaac is well he has concluded to Stay untill his time is out he Says that they are having a fine time one hour a day for drill Stand guard every 8 days
