Dear Huldah

     I Seat my self this eavening for the purpose of writing a few lines to you I hope that you are all well my pet that I have told you about under my arm has gathered again and is giving me some pain I feel quite poorly today you will excuse me for not writing much this time ) wee got a dispatch here By telegraph a few minutes ago that Jeff Davis [i.e., Jefferson Davis] was captured I hope it is true )

thare is no other news of importance at the presant So good By My Dear ones a few minutes later ) it is confermed By telegraph that Davis is captured ) well love this day one year ago is a day long to be remembered by the Boys of Co. C. it was the Battle of resacea [sp. Resaca] where many a brave Soldier fell to rise nomore Some that I almoste loved as Brothers but it was the will of him that doeth all thing write ) May the 15
