Dear Father

I recd your letter of Oct 9 this morning and in it was a few stamps and some paper and envelops which come in good time I am quite well and so are the rest of the Co We are laying still now and I guess will untill after election There is some talk of our Col rendering his resignation I do not care if they all go Home they have always been a curse to us

Page 2      Images (pages 2 & 3): 150 DPI100 DPI72 DPI

If our Col (Slevin) had been a mind to we might have been at Louisville all through this campaign and I say that a man is a fool when he has a chance to go to the rear and does not I do not like to fight well enough to stay at the front all of my 3 years But my time is drawing to a close quite fast I do not think we will be in the front next summer I hope not anyway Our Regmt is so small that they ought to do guard duty at some post and we have no Co officers but that makes no difference we have to go just the same and if there is any thing wrong

Page 3      Images (pages 2 & 3): 150 DPI100 DPI72 DPI

we have to go out and see what is up They cannot use us that way always I do not think I cannot think of anything more to write so I will close good by write soon good by

H E Randall
