My Dear Wife

Yours of the 5th Inst received yesterday. I was happy to hear you were enjoying the blessings of health and the comforts of home. Also that our friends were all well.
I am surprised that you have no letters from me. I have written you twice a week and sometimes three times since I have been here.

The fault is evidently in the mails—as you get no papers. This is Sunday night. I have been to Church today and heard Dr. Bardwell preach in the 1st Presbyterian Church from Mark 11th and 22nd. The sermon had nothing of uncommon interest—But the Music was delicious.

Flemings trial comes off tomorrow. Dr Lea and Dr Hodgsden are witnesses.
Lizzie I hope to be home soon. The Legislature has passed adjourning resolution for the 3rd of March. Tomorrow three weeks will be the day. But I hope we may be able to adjourn before that day.
I am glad to hear that Jimmie is still taking after his Pa getting smarter and smarter every day.
Should Peter improve Pa can send him to the Legislature next time.
My health is good with the

exception of a slight cold. I have had fine health since I left home and think the fine weather we are now having will still improve it. Some move of the Army might bring us home earlier than the day of adjournment. Time alone can decide this question. In the meantime Lizzie take care of yourself and Jimmie. I trust a kind Providence will will overshadow you with his wing of great mercy and kindness
Give my Love to Dan and all my friends.

Ever Yours
J M Meek
