Cloudy Inspection at 7.o.c Turtle soup for Breakfast Write to letters one to Hugh R one to Ham Dress Parade Orders that we drill 1 1/2 Hour every day

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 6, 1863.

Warm in forenoon Fine shower in afternoon Comp Drill But no Battallion Dress Parade at sun set Receive one letter

 

MONDAY 3

Warm, drownded man foated down River Compy Drill 1/2 Hour in forenoon battallion in .P.M. Saw a Monitor No Dress Parade

 

THURSDAY 6

Cold in Morning David K on Picket Drill in A.M & .P.M. River rising Troops still going up river Dress Parade Fred K Steel [i.e., Major General Frederick Steele] is in command of the army here

 

TUESDAY 4

very warm go up Town two miles arive get one letter Draw two shirts No Drill this P.M. By a moonlitt Dress Parade

 

FRIDAY 7

Cold & cloudy DK relieved Drill A M & P M Man in Co E shot through the Foot Dress Parade Great expedition Prepairing for an interior campign
