THURSDAY, JANUARY 22, 1863.

Very plesant Start for Lacross [sp. La Crosse] at 3.P.M Stay all night at Centervill [sp. Centerville]

SUNDAY, JANUARY 25, 1863.

Very pleasant to day On our Road to Chicag arrived at 4 1/2 .P.M. Start for Cairo at 8.o.c. Distance 380 miles

 

FRIDAY 23

Heavy Snow storm Leave Centervill at 8 1/2.o.c. for Lacross Commenced Raining at 12.o.c & Rained until Knight got to Lacross at 4.o.c Quartered in Court House, no supper

 

MONDAY 26

Dark & Cloudy Commenced to Rain at 10.o.c Rains all day, got Cairo at 11.P.M

 

SATURDAY 24

Cold & Cloudy Going to start for Chicago at 9.o.c.P.M. Go to the Depot at 3.o.c Leave at nine

 

TUESDAY 27

Slept in the Cars all night Went into Barracks at 12.o.c & they beat all places that even I was in before, for filth & dirt
