1863

April 11th  fine day but windy. no drill. no news. the paymaster came to head quarters, got news of furloughs, Enos Woodruff [i.e., Private Enos J. Woodruff] got in from Hospital. Wm White [Private William White] got his likeness taken, all well, dress parade Started a letter to Mary.

Sunday

 "  12th  fine nice warm day. finished my letter to Mary and made three furloughs, and one Muster Roll. got a paper no news. particular I got no mail. I am very horse but feel very well. no meeting all busy about look like Sunday. all busy fixing arms and accouterments, had dress parade. all quiet.

1863

April 13th  warm cloudy day, finished the muster Rolls. went up and paid our respects to Gen Orme [i.e, Brigadier General William Walker Orme]. roads quite dusty. no mail. all quiet. Lewellin [i.e., Private Lewellyn Arthur] and Isaac Budworth [i.e., Sergeant Isaac Budworth] came in. all well. no news. raining this evening a little.

 "  14th  fine warm cloudy day and rained a little, no drill, no news. William Moor [i.e., Private William Moore] took sick, got B. Peasleys [i.e., Private Bernhard Peasley] discharge papers. all quiet.

 "  15th  fine day, but a little cloudy. every thing lively had a muster at ten oclock drill this afternoon, got a letter from Mary folks well, no news all quiet. boys in good spirits things begin to look like summer.
